The August 2025 floods left lasting impacts across Southeast Wisconsin — but they also revealed our collective strength. This meeting invites community members, organizations, and partners to build a shared vision for long-term recovery that strengthens local networks and prepares us for future disasters.

What to expect:

  • Learn about current recovery efforts and emerging needs
  • Gain insight from “Hope in High Water,” a documentary about community resilience after Hurricane Katrina
  • Reflect on what recovery means for our own communities
  • Explore models for long-term recovery
  • Discuss ways we can contribute — from volunteer coordination and housing to food, donations, and emotional or spiritual care.

Who should attend?

This free event is open to anyone who wants to help their community recover from the August floods- whether you live in Milwaukee or elsewhere. Those who may be interested included nonprofits, businesses, faith-based organizations, community leaders, and others who want to build capacity for future disasters in Southeast Wisconsin.

Sponsored by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Rid Racism Milwaukee, and Brown Deer United Methodist Church, in collaboration with Southeast Wisconsin Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD).

In-person attendance is recommended to connect and take part in group discussions. If you’re unable to join on site, a virtual option will be provided after registration.
